LeBron James, Bronny James Create Historic Father‑Son Moment in NBA
LeBron James and Bronny James added another unique chapter to the NBA record book as the Los Angeles Lakers neared the end of the regular season. On Thursday, April 9, during the Lakers’ game against the Golden State Warriors, Bronny was credited with an assist to LeBron, marking the first son-to-father assist in NBA history.
The play came in the final minute of the first quarter. Bronny picked off a steal with 51 seconds left, then bounced the ball ahead to LeBron. The Lakers star moved across halfcourt and finished the fast break with a dunk that needed no defense to stop it. The Lakers went on to beat the Warriors 119-103 in San Francisco.

That moment followed another league first from March 27, when the pair recorded the NBA’s first father-to-son assist. In that game against the Brooklyn Nets, Bronny passed to LeBron with 7:54 left in the second quarter. After LeBron drew a double team, he quickly sent the ball back to Bronny, who knocked down an open 3-pointer.
On Thursday night, the connection showed up again. In the third quarter, LeBron earned an assist on a Bronny 3-pointer, adding another clean exchange to their growing list of shared on-court milestones.
LeBron James vs. Warriors
LeBron finished with 26 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds in 32 minutes. He shot 11-of-17 from the field, 3-of-5 from 3-point range, and 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Bronny James vs. Warriors
Bronny posted 10 points, three assists, and two steals against Golden State. He went 4-for-7 from the field and 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.
LeBron and Bronny James continue to create rare NBA moments that stand out beyond the final score. Their back-to-back history-making assists have already given the Lakers season a memorable family storyline, with each possession adding a new layer to the record.
